Jung Tsai

Violin

Based in Toronto, Ontario, violinist Jung Tsai has performed extensively in Ontario region where she is now a sectional violinist in Canadian Opera Company and also serves as 2nd Associate Concertmaster in the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony Orchestra. Her other main appearances include performing as guest concertmaster and guest soloist with several local symphony orchestras.


Ms. Tsai is also a committed chamber musician in addition to her solo and orchestral performances. She has participated in string quartets and piano trios in the past which brought her to performances in North America. Recently, she has been part of the Coriolis Chamber Ensemble that has been presenting annual chamber concerts across Québec and Ontario. Jung is a member of Arts Integration, an organization that programs multisensory arts experiences for audiences of all ages in Waterloo Region.


Jung received her Bachelor’s degree at Mannes’ The New School for Music (New York), her Master’s Degree at DePaul School of Music (Chicago) and Artist Diploma at the McGill School of Music (Montreal). During her stay in the United States she won several prizes, including first prize in the Mannes Community Concerto Competition, a finalist of Plowman Chamber Music Competition, and the Luminaries Fellowship winner of string category. Her past teachers include Nina Beilina, Ilya Kaler, Axel Strauss, Jonathan Crow and Denise Lupien.
